Part A

1.How you see yourself and how others perceive you are sometimes quite different. Your view of yourself is subjective. The way other people see you is more objective. They might notice qualities about you that you are not aware of. They might see abilities that you do not even notice because you have had them for so long or because you do not see them as being unique.
Look over the following list of personality traits:
friendly/outgoing
conscientious/responsible/reliable
trusting/distrustful
serious/carefree
imaginative
responsible/reliable
positive outlook/negative outlook
quiet/shy
sensitive/tough
anxious/tense
moody/calm
careful/careless
aggressive/assertive
self-confident/lacks confidence
disorganized/organized
rigid/flexible

1.Write down the five characteristics that you think best describe you.
Give the list to at one other student in the classroom. Do not show them your personal responses. Have this person list five characteristics that they think best describe you. To what extent do your lists agree, disagree? How do you account for the differences?

2. What is the benefit of knowing how others see you?

Part B

You have the opportunity to participate in an exchange program to another province. You will spend time with a student and his or her family in their home and the student will come to your home. It is important that a good match is made between you and the exchange student. You are, therefore, required to submit a description of yourself. Begin with the sentence, “I am a person who...”
